In addition to celebrating ‘our 30th Birthday’ the conference will focus on the Jewish settlers and communities in the southern Southwest including the rich history of Texas, Arizona, and New Mexico. Conference themes also highlight: 1) Crypto- Jews in the region; 2) A Spotlight on the Las Cruces and southern New Mexico Jewish communities and; 3) Undergraduate and Graduate Student Research projects from major Southwest colleges and universities. This promises to be a regional conference bringing together speakers and panels celebrating the richness of Jewish history in the southern Southwest. As of now, some of sessions and speakers will include:

Saturday, November 14: 9 AM – 9  PM
Welcome:
Keynote Speech: Rick Hendricks, State Historian, New Mexico
Speakers/Sessions include: Rabbi Stephen Leon, El Paso
The Jewish Communities of Southern New Mexico, Southern and West Texas, and Southern Arizona”
Dinner Speaker: Dr. Jon Hunner, Department of History, NMSU
Cocktails and Silent Auction/Raffle followed by a Buffet Dinner

Sunday, November 15: 7:30 AM – 1 PM
Bagel Brunch/Continental Breakfast
Speakers/Sessions include: Dr. Jeffrey Brown, Department of History, NMSU
“A Spotlight on the Las Cruces Area Jewish Community”
